Today we had an assembly to incite, I mean encourage the beings to sell things. It was long and tortuous, about 20 minutes in a being came and whispered to me, "I'm a little bit bored." Well, I said "What would you like me to do about it?"
Shrug
"I can't do anything please sit quietly."
Shrug, "I'm not going to sell anything anyway, I have all the prizes."
"That's fine, please sit quietly."
Shrug.
I'm not sure what the being wanted me to do. I had to sit through it also and I was a LOT bored. I hate, whoops vehemently don't like things that separate the haves from the have nots. Good grief some people are just worried about getting food on the table and a roof over their families heads. I don't like that said beings do not have these prizes and have no chance of winning them. How sad and disappointing for them and how hard on their parents to say no we have to eat this week. Let's be sensitive people!
It has been many days since I have had cake, where is the cake, oh I wish I had cake. I guess I'll go eat some caramel cheerios, no cake, no think gooey frosting. sigh

Why? Why? Why?
My day:
Can I go to the library right now?
No it is closed.
Why? (snarky)
Can I get a new pencil?
No. You're pencil is still sharp.
Why? (snarky)
Please come to the front carpet.
Why? (snarky)
Can I stay in for recess? (It's balmy for winter standards)
No.
Why? (snarky)
Children with notes to stay in, get some books to read on the bench after you eat.
Why? (snarky and whiny)
Can't we just come in the room?
No, I have to make copies.
WWWWWHHHHHYYYYYYY? (big whiny)
Can I take my robot home?
No, you will need it for your writing project.
Why? (belligerent and whiny)
Go home.
What no whys?

Saturday at Walmart
Never, Never, Never go to Wal-mart on Saturday afternoon. It has been taken over by pod people with their carts. The hubby has had the stomach flu and I needed to get to the pop aisle for a medicinal bottle of Coke. I went down the main aisle otherwise known as the AISLE of DEATH. I couldn't walk down without a child, a cart or a wheelchair cutting me off and then stopping right in front of me. As I approached the candy area it was even worse, people everywhere, when I politely said excuse me I was greeted with the death glare, lucky for me I teach school and am cognizant of the death glare and was able to deflect it with my shield of indifference. I finally achieved my goal and Nirvana not a soul in sight, I had the pop aisle to myself, it gave me just the right amount of determination to make my way back to the front of the store, where I waited in line for 20 long minutes, but did learn quite a bit about Seal and Heidi Klum. Also, I must say Kelly Preston looks great having lost a lot of weight.
Today I took my 81 year old dad out for his birthday. I have found that as we age some people don't like getting older but cheer up, people who make it to their 80's are excited to get another birthday. I choose to have that attitude right now. Bring on the cake, I love my birthday.
Tonight the hog-the-tv-almost-every-night Jazz are playing again, what is this? There are new episodes on Investigative Discovery tonight and I
AM

THEM! Oh the inhumanity.
Why, oh, why couldn't the NBA stay on strike all season. Hopefully next year they can disagree about their poor salaries (yeah right, try living on a teacher's salary) again and I will get a break to watch WHAT I WANT.
I think I hear the cake calling me.

Friday Friday, Friday
Friday, the day when I can eat cake wait I think I did that yesterday, oh well come to me my lovely.
Today I usually have Fun Friday but because the beings chose to be less than stellar in their behavior this week, we had to work instead. I always try to plan a fun cultural, arty afternoon and darn it, the other classes had so much fun with my actitivities, wish I could have been there. But no, we got to do worksheets ad nauseum. Hopefully next week we will be back to learning how to be culturally refined.
YOu know, you would think that if you rescued some cats from a life of starvation and worms, they would love you and worship at your feet. Do they come running to greet me fondly when I get home? Oh no! It's "where is the Fancy Feast you plebe, I only care that you're home cause I don't have posable thumbs, get a move on lady!". I love you too you little furballs!
Those dumb, whoops I mean really fun and exciting Jazz are playing again, hopefully they'll be done in time for Fringe, if not the hubby might have a mutiny on his hands. Of course now I have to miss last week's episode of Deadly Women, but hopefully they will have a murder and mayhem marathon soon.

It's just a little snow
Today because it was snowing, it was indoor recesses. I mean
PLEASE!
it was in the thirties, since when do we stay in when it's tropical outside. I vote for our old way, go out unless it's 0 degrees or the wind chill is that. We live in a state that generally gets a lot of snow and wind, let's not be wimpy people. I need my quiet time, which I didn't get to have today grrrrrrrrrr. Usually the little beings go to the library but someone thought up having them in the halls today, it was noisy and a revolving door into the classroom. I finally locked my door because apparently no does not mean no, it means maybe she'll forget I was just there two minutes ago.
It's a cake kind of day!
Yay the dumb, I mean really super Jazz are not on tonight and the very uninteresting Person of Interest (the hubby loves that show) is a rerun. What does this mean for me? Sins and Secrets, House Hunters and who knows what else. It IS a cake kind of day!
I get a real kick out of House Hunters, I don't know anyone with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances so apparently I am a rube. Personally, I think granite looks like baby poop (doesn't that seem appealing when cooking) and with stainless steel it would be fingerprint center. Since I don't live at the police station I think I will pass on the fingerprints. I find the European House Hunters more interesting cause nobody cares about that stuff, they are just glad to have a bathroom and kitchen with stuff in it. They are my kind of people.
Well, I think it is Adele (love that girl's voice) and cake time. Welllll hello there my beauty, what was that? Why yes I would love a big fat slice. Later.

Rant, Rant, Rant
I decided I need a place to rant, noone that I know of reads this blog so I am going to rant to my heart's content.
School was crappy today, I wish that things could be quiet once in a while without asking two hundred (I'm sure I'm not exaggerating) times. I wish it was okay to yell "shut up", not that I ever would cause I'd feel terrible about it. I want little bodies to quit fighting at recess and then quit fibbing about it. I want to give a lesson without complaints and moans. I miss project based learning!!!!! I do not want to have one more day of a math program with bubble cards. What genuis thought little kids could fill out bubble cards. Oh yeah that's right, someone who has never taught in the classroom.
Why couldn't the NBA stay on strike for the whole season? Those stupid (oh I mean athletic) Jazz are on almost every night. I am missing Dark Minds right now, how is that fair. I also missed Stolen Voices, Buried Secrets. I need my crime reality tv people!
I want Fringe to go back to a show about Fringe cases, I don't care about the other side, the other side can go jump in the lake. Bring back good looking Charlie and let's solve some cases. Also, I want Grimm to be on a different time so I can watch both
I love Once Upon a Time, I wish there were more fun shows like that, I need fantasy, I have all the reality I can take. In my fantasy world I would be the evil queen, but I would have a very handsome evil King to go with it and we would wreak havoc. Heeeeeeh.
Yay this weekend One for the Money is on, I need Stephanie Plum adventures and I can't wait to see Ranger. Go Janet Evanovich!
I want to be able to each chocolate and cake and nothing else, who cares about nutrition, nutrition smition. Let ME eat cake!!!!!

Pig Out at the Huntsman's
I went to a party recently and they had a meal in a milk can. I thought it would be fun to have a family pig out, so this weekend my husband and I did. It was fun to prepare and even more fun to have people over.
Of course we needed a costume for the pig out, nose for Pete and nose and mask for me.

I found the noses and mask at Zuckers for .97 cents each. It was worth the money for the fun.

I also bought a pan for the meal that cost $19.88 at Wal-mart.
This is the way I make meal in a milk (pan) can.
Red potatoes, corn on the cob, cabbage, onions, sausage, carrots and ham.
I washed the potatoes and cut the biggest ones in half, peeled the carrots, and cut in half, cut the cabbage in wedges, the onions in wedges and the meat in chunks.

Layer the meat, carrots, cabbage, potatoes, cabbage, meat, potatoes, onions, cabbage, and meat. Add the corn on the cob for the last few minutes.
Add 2 -4 cups of water. Cook on high until boiling then slowly lower to low. Cook for 35 -40 minutes. Drain the water and pour in the troughs.
